The NASCAR Racing Experience

The NASCAR Racing Experience gives fans of fast cars a chance to experience what it is like to get behind the wheel of an actual race car.

The NASCAR Racing Experience is available on at 12 raceways. The Atlanta Motor Speedway, California Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway, Darlington Raceway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Kentucky Motor Speedway, Myrtle Beach Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway, Richmond International Raceway and Texas Motor Speedway. No matter where you live in the country, there is a speedway near you and their booking process is simple.

The next step in your booking process will be choosing which Racing Experience you'd like to have. It can be split into three main types. You can do a Ride-Along, which means you ride in the passenger side of the car while a driver takes you around the course. Or you can do one of their two timed sessions, 5 minutes and 8 minutes. They also sell multiple 8 minute drives, up to 4.

On the day you'll be asked to arrive approximately 30 minutes to an hour before reservation time. You get all checked in and given a racing suit and a pair of headphones. You'll be shown a 45 minute instructional video, before being given last minute instructions and then led out to the track. Your friends and family can accompany you into the class to help calm nerves, and they can take pictures of you throughout the entire experience.

When you get down to the track you may have a bit of a wait on your hands. It'll depend on how many people signed up and how many were in your class. Once you're down there, you'll have the opportunity to watch other participants run the track and start to plan how you're going to do it.

But nothing will prepare you for the feeling of racing around a track at top speeds, in complete control of your own car. There is no speedometer in the car, so you drive purely by revs. Unlike with other racing experiences, the NASCAR Experience allows you to pass other cars (on straights, with permission) and you also aren't nursed around the track by a pace car.

A personal spotter will be giving you instructions the entire time and assistance via 2-way in car racing electronic communications. They will help you maximize your time on the track, and signal when you can pass other drivers. You'll need the first few minutes to get your bearings, especially if you've never driven stick before. The entire ride is done in 4th gear, so getting up there will be your first challenge. Then you'll want to feel how the car handles the track, it's weight, it's speed, it's grace. It's an unrivaled experience, and after one drive you may reconsider switching your day job.

The NASCAR Racing Experience is one of the most fan-approved attractions that any sport has ever created. Football fans can't go out onto professional fields and play a game, but driving fans can experience what it's really like to be behind the wheel of some of the fastest cars in the world.
